This is me: Brad, or Bee-rad!

My journey into becoming The Humble Apiarist started when I was a child.

I accidentally stepped on a bee barefoot and experienced that excruciating pain we’ve all felt, which leaves you wondering how such a small being could have such an impact. It was at that moment I also discovered I was allergic to bees!

After that rocky beginning, it wasn’t until I turned 30 when my deep fascination for bees started. On a whim, I found myself on a flight to Sydney to partake in a beginner beekeeping course. My eagerness for bees didn’t stop there, and upon returning home I contacted Gilberts Bee Keeping, which is where I ordered my first Hive. Once I had my hive my next step was to register it. PIRSA registration requires 3 letters to be displayed on each hive. I chose “LUV”. Which speaks for itself!

Our aim is to create a movement to encourage the growth of the bee population for the future of our planet.

Through education, we aspire to eradicate the fear and negative stigma currently affiliated with bees, promote an alternative way of thinking, encourage and educate the communities to become involved and passionate about the importance of pollination and preservation associated with the bee’s role as human keepers.

There are plenty of ways for you to get involved. Find out more by following this link: Get Involved!
